Low cost housingThere are many examples of low cost housing projects around the world, with some countries enjoying extremely affordable and comfortable homes. The main problems in the UK with low cost housing stems from the high cost of building land coupled with high competition. Unfortunately this leaves many people without suitable accommodation, with those at the bottom of the pile being forced to become homeless. It is a totally avoidable situation and as a rich society we must ensure that our citizens are supported throughout the difficult periods of their lives and given enough support so that they can continue to contribute in whatever way they can to the greater society. If you have traveled around the world you too would have seen many examples of low cost housing projects being used successfully. What we have in the UK is much more of a problem with a culture and attitude which tolerates homelessness simply because many people have not suffered the experiences which lead to these problems.
